Back in competition at the Alana Boyd Shield event

After three months of intensive training it was good to commence with some competition again at the Alana Boyd Shield, QSAC, Brisbane 9/11/2019. The competition is named after Russel coach Denise Boyd’s daughter, Alana, an Australian Olympic pole vaulter, and was an ideal event to initiate the warm up schedule for the upcoming SEA games in the Philippines.

Russel competed in both the men’s 100m and 200m and took gold in both events clocking a respectable 10.70 and 21.70 despite running into some formidable headwinds on the day.

With the “ring rust” dispensed with – the build up continues for the 30th Southeast Asian Games which will be hosted by the Philippines from 30 November to 11 December 2019.
