It was touch and go as to whether the Benita Willis Shield event 2019 would even be held this year as Queensland Athletics issued an air quality advisory warning due to the poor air quality levels as a result of bush fires.
However fortunately for TeamTaib the event was able to go ahead on the day and Russel took full advantage taking double gold in the 200m (21.05) and 100m (10.42) – the latter of course being a new personal best for Russel Taib!
