100 & 200 at BFTTA Open
The 2024 Outdoor season for Russel kicked off at the Be Fit Today Track Academy (BFTTA) Open at the Lee Valley Athletics Stadium, Edmonton, London UK.
Always a good level of competition, organisation and ranking points on offer.
With a 200m and 100m on offer on the same day a good opportunity to get the competition form started with a pre-activator in the 100m for a bid for a good 200m race.
On this occasion the notoriously well-oiled and seamless organisation that is BFTTA’s usual standard, was unfortunately disrupted on the day with some technical issues, throwing out the schedule and the two races for Russel were a bit further apart than anticipated with delays, but all in a day’s work for an athlete to overcome the challenges of the variables on any given competition race meet.
Weather conditions were good for running though, a bit overcast and cloudy, and a mild 14C and light westerly 6mph winds.

Onto the starting line and it was a 10.81 result for Russel in the 100m and four hours later the 200m sporting an impressive level of athlete’s with sub 21 PB’s over the distance.
A tough run but Russel took third place with 21.31 for a respectable time and a good day’s work at the track, for the inaugural start of the outdoor season, to build on.
